If there’s one thing I’m especially proud of, it’s my ability and passion to go shopping. I wouldn’t say it’s a gift…OK…maybe it is…who knows. I do know that I love to do it and if I can help you with a few of my personal Christmas shopping tips, during the busiest (aka craziest) shopping time of the year, then that’s what I’ll do. Use these tips to help make your holiday season a little less stressful.
Stay Home and Shop Online
If you’re like me and hate the long lines, traffic, mean people, or just don’t have time to go shopping then you’re in luck—because you still have plenty of time to shop online. We still have a few weeks before Christmas and some online stores are offering free and fast shipping. Not to mention lots of deals! Just click “enter.”
Make a List and Check it Twice
If you must venture out into the shopping arena, make sure to make a list of all the people who are on your Christmas gift list. You don’t want to forget anyone, because rushing out into that holiday craze into the last minute will suck all the cheer out of you! And you may end up buying them something a little wacky. Even though we know it’s the the thought that counts!
Create a Budget and Stick to It
Unless your “Money Bags Magee,” creating a shopping budget will help keep you financially sane. Especially after the holidays when you’re usually wondering where all your money went. Just make a budget and stick with it!
Wake Up Early and Go!
Don’t forget to set your alarm! Shop early in the morning when the stores and malls first open and during the week. There will be less crowds. The weekends are going to be the craziest and busiest days to shop. Unless you like that sort of thing.
Be a Doll and Shop Small Businesses
There’s nothing like supporting small businesses. Step away from the department stores and hit up boutiques and even Etsy.com. You’ll find more creative and one-of-a-kind items.
Get All DIY on Them
Don’t want to shop period? Get creative and make gifts for your family and friends. There are a million and one DIY (Do It Yourself) ideas out there. Just google “DIY Christmas Gifts.” Then get crafty!
Don’t be a Grinch! Be Patient!
This holiday season, do me a favor and just be patient. Yes, there will be longer lines, bigger crowds, and lots of traffic. You don’t want to end up the Scrooge of the bunch. Just know you’re not the only one out there trying to find the perfect gift. Smile and remember the true reason of the season.
