I’ll admit that swimsuit shopping isn’t normally one of my favorite things to do. I know I’m not alone either. But, don’t worry my loves it’s not as bad as we once thought it was. I’m super determined to conquer it! I headed over to Target to check out the new AVA & VIV swimwear collection and to find a few spring break worthy pieces.
First things first, it’s all about being comfortable. But, you know I always make sure to add my personal style. That’s why I think I was really drawn to this AVA & VIV one piece swimsuit with a ruffle and laser cut detailing in Exciting Purple (which is more like a magenta). As you can see, I tested it out in the pool and it passed with flying colors.
If you’re like me and want something that you can just throw on over your swimsuit, then try these cover-up options. This AVA & VIV black maxi skirt is a perfect option. It’s lightweight and not too long. Or you can try the AVA & VIV flutter sleeve top (see below). It does double duty as a top and cover-up!

With this being the first collection from the new AVA & VIV swimwear line, I was pretty impressed with the range of styles that they offered. I found one piece suits, bikinis, and tankinis—with a range of bottoms. Not to mention prints and colors! We all know there are just so many things to consider when shopping for the perfect swimsuit. Here are a few tips:
- Always try on your swimsuit before purchasing if possible. If you have to order online, read the customer reviews for details on fit. People are usually very detailed and honest when it comes to online reviews.
- Try on different sizes. The size on the tag isn’t always what it seems.
- Once you try on the swimwear, move around in it, lift your arms, bend down etc… You want to make sure it fits in all the right places and will be comfortable for your beach adventure. You don’t want anything to fall out do you?
- Rock that swimsuit with confidence! Whether you wear a cover-up or not!
