I talk to my mom on the phone almost every day. I can honestly say, each conversation takes on a life of it’s own. We don’t always agree on things and we will sometimes butt heads. I love her beyond words, but man we are so much alike it’s scary. It seems like every time I open my mouth, I say something and I sound just like her. In fact, I think I might actually be turning into her.
As Mother’s Day rolls back around, I’m reminded of all the things I get from my mom. And my love of shopping has to be the one that stands out the most. As a kid, that’s one of things I remember the most. We didn’t have a lot of money, but she would still let us choose one thing on the sale rack or give us $2 to spend at the swap meet. That might not be a lot to some people but it was more than enough for us.
I like to think I have some great shopping skills thanks to her. I can spot a bargain from a mile away and will shop until I drop. It’s like second nature.
Don’t you just love that we get all sorts of things from our moms – whether it’s a love of gardening or fashion, or dancing. Which I totally didn’t get, but my brother did. I couldn’t stop laughing at Kmart’s latest video that totally reminds me of my mom and my brother’s dancing skills. So funny!
Now that we’ve determined what I got from my mom, I think it’s only fair to give her something back this Mother’s Day. As one of those moms who has everything, finding her the perfect gift isn’t easy.
But, when I do go gift shopping for my mom, there are three things I can always count on: her love of all things bling bling, her obsession with red handbags, and how much of a fashionista she is. This makes shopping for the best gifts a little easier!
I also know that I’ll find great deals at Kmart on apparel and jewelry and everything else my mom will love. Need some gift ideas of your own? Learn more at kmart.com/mothersday.
I’d like to wish all the mamas out there a very Happy Mother’s Day!
