I may not be a professional makeup artist or beauty guru, but I have learned a few things over the years. Like…how to make that holiday makeup you worked so hard on last throughout the night. And it’s a lot easier than you imagined. I have three tips to share with you, that anyone can master. All it takes is investing in a few key beauty products.
Before an ounce of makeup touches your face, make sure to use a primer. I usually apply this to my face after my moisturizer. This will help your makeup last throughout the night, by ensuring your makeup goes on evenly. There are tons out there to choose from. Find one that matches your skin type and the holiday makeup look you’re trying to achieve. I’m a fan of e.l.f. Mineral Infused Face Primer, which gives my skin a smooth appearance. Also, don’t forget to show your eyelids some love with an eyeshadow primer. I loooove the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. I don’t put on eyeshadow without it. Seriously.
When purchasing your next foundation, lipstick, mascara, blush, eyeliner…etc…look out for anything that provides longwear support. Yes, that means it’s formulated to last longer and was created to be worn for longer periods of time. It’s all about that staying power. One of my favorite longwear beauty products is Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear Foundation. I was introduced to it recently and I can’t see myself using anything else.
Setting Spray or Powder
This is an often forgotten way to complete your holiday makeup look. In either spray or powder form, use a setting product to “set” all of your hard work. Just spray or brush it on your finished face and it should help keep your makeup looking amazing. I always spray on Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray when I’m done with my makeup and it does the trick!
