For those of us who love fashion and the art of getting dressed every day, there’s nothing worse than a fashion slump. That moment when you hate everything in your closet and claim to have nothing to wear. Never mind the fact that you have way too many clothes. I’ve been there and I know about half of us are there right now. So, what can we do without spending money? I put together five tips, with the help of my fashionable friends, on how to bring your wardrobe back to life.
Take Inventory of Your Closet
The first thing you should do is take inventory of your closet. Do this by pulling every piece of clothing out and taking note of what you have. You just might rediscover some pieces you forgot about. When you’re putting everything back, feel free to reorganize your closet according to color and style.
Bring Out the Accessories
“Use jewelry and accessories to freshen up your wardrobe and curate your personal style. Even your most basic items will feel new when you add seasonal finishing touches of color, texture, and print to your look.” Reah of StyledbyReah.com
Rework & Reuse
Being able to rework and reuse pieces in your wardrobe will bring a breath of fresh air to your outfits. Take your favorite button up and layer it with a blazer, sweater, or even a vest. Your favorite cardigan, kimono, or duster can be belted and paired with tights or leggings. You can even take a one piece swimsuit and pair it with denim jeans or shorts.
Be Adventurous with Prints & Patterns
“When I become bored with my closet, I look for different ways to pair my favorite pieces. Pattern Mixing is such a great way to spring life back into a wardrobe.” Ivory of IvoryJinelle.com
Host a Swap with Your Friends
If you have a friend or a group of friends who are in the same boat, organize a swap night. It’s exactly what it sounds like, trade a top for a top or a dress for a dress. It’s a great way to add new pieces to your closet without spending a dime.
