I love shopping. That’s no secret guys. What I love more is Fair Trade shopping. Every purchase I make matters, each product is created by an amazing artisan, and every dollar I spend goes back directly to them. I wanted to not only share this beautiful blue bag that was gifted to me by Unique Batik, but also offer you a little incentive to get you shopping the Fair Trade Market (see below).
As a Fair Trade wholesaler and online retailer, Unique Batik partners with artisans (individuals, families, and co-ops) in Guatemala, Ghana, Thailand, and Chile. A proud member of the Fair Trade Federation, they guarantee their artisans fair wages, long-term relationships, and safe working conditions that are free from discrimination and forced child labor.
“Fair trade supports farmers and craftspeople in developing countries who are socially and economically marginalized. These producers often face steep hurdles in finding markets and customers for their goods.” -Fair Trade Federation
Just take a look at this colorful beauty of a tote bag! I immediately fell in love with it. Made from and cut up from repurposed zunil corte (Guatemalan skirt consisting of four yards of fabric), only two bags can be made out of each corte. This means that this bag is practically unique. And I don’t know about you, but I like unique.
If you take a look on their website, you’ll see a wide range of Fair Trade bags for sale. They even make them from huipils (women’s blouses). According to Unique Batik, “The patterns in the fabrics, tell a story and are unique to the woman who is wearing it.” I love that!
Unique Batik wanted to give you a chance to shop their website and pick out something for yourself. At the end of this post, you can enter to win a $25 shopping credit. What would you pick if you won?
