The minute I received the invite to be a part of the St. Jude Blogger program, I felt blessed and grateful. I knew that a part of this would include a visit to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis. I thought I had an idea of what to expect—I was wrong. I’ll never forget the faces of the littlest patients being pulled around in wagons. Or meeting those who work tirelessly for a cure in the research department. The teachers, nurses, and doctors who try their best to give these children as close to a normal life as possible. Even those behind the scenes raising not only funds, but awareness to help keep it all running. I had a chance to see how the money I raise helps.
This is why I’m honored to be a St. Jude Hero again.
You may remember I was in Nashville this past April walking a 5K for the cause. I raised $750 dollars and couldn’t have been prouder to stand alongside every single St. Jude Hero who did the same. And those who continue to do it around the world. It was my honor. I loved my entire experience so much, that’s why my best friend and I are doing it again in November. We even recruited another friend of ours to join us.
I can’t stress enough how every single dollar you donate helps.
- $50 helps provides supplies to help parents and nurses care for babies in treatment and include items like diapers, baby bottles, sippy cups, pacifiers, footies and heel warmers.
- $75 helps St. Jude provides parties, decorations, cakes and more to keep spirits high during the holidays and to celebrate special occasions like birthdays and a child’s completion of chemotherapy treatment.
- $447 provides oxygen which is key to keeping the immune system strong. A gift of oxygen can help a young body thrive and help fight cancer at the cellular level.
My goal is to raise at least $500 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. But I hope to go leaps and bounds beyond that. Will you help me? DONATE HERE.
