Stop what you’re doing and just imagine being 15-years-old again. Could you last 24 entire hours of that teenage, emo, and acne-filled life? I kind of freaked out for a second just thinking about it. I immediately think about how I didn’t have a quinceneara and how boy obsessed I was. Oh, the good old days. Well, I’m a grown woman now and I get invited on fun trips with my amigas and celebrate the quince of others like the Toyota Camry.
Yes, you read that right. I grabbed my amigas Rachel of Perrenial Chic and Denise of Pearmama, hopped in an all new 2018 Toyota Camry, and drove up to Santa Barbara to celebrate this sedan being the best-selling car in America for 15 years. That’s a reason to party if you ask me. And a drive up the coast isn’t a bad idea either. We met up with Yolanda of Sassy Mama in L.A. and had the best time just being “us.”
And by being ourselves, we are real, open, and brutally honest. The laughter is my favorite part, but so are the moments when we confide in each other. Those heartfelt moments is something I’m so amazingly grateful for. Look, it may take me a while to allow you into my life. I’m really protective like that. I mean, who hasn’t been hurt by someone they called a “friend?”
There’s just something so special about being able to be your true self comfortably around others. I would say without judgment, but who are we kidding? Have you met my friends (wink wink)? If you would’ve told 15-year-old Monique then, that she’d had friends like this now. She wouldn’t have stressed so much about not having that quinceneara. Nah…she still would’ve. “Teen Monique” was a tad dramatic.
Let’s get back to “adult Monique” who loved hanging out with her amigas and the Toyota Camry for their quince! Spending time with these ladies is always the highlight of any trip. Especially one that includes Salsa and Bachata dance lessons, manis and pedis, sunset cruises off the Santa Barbara coast, delicious Mexican food, and luxurious hotel stays. In my opinion, it was a great way to celebrate, reconnect, and just be ourselves. Thank you, Toyota!
